Tonali with a shock deadline-day switch to Arsenal!
In a no-nonsense response, the Magpies’ hierarchy delivered a clear, confident message: Tonali isn’t going anywhere.
Club CEO David Hopkinson didn’t mince words when addressing the speculation head-on:
“I have no idea. That’s our answer… Sandro has been a wonderful player, a smile’s on every day I see him, I believe he’s happy here and we’re certainly happy with him.”
Boss Eddie Howe echoed the sentiment, stressing Tonali’s importance and contentment at St James’ Park:
“He’s such an integral player to what we’re doing. He’s very happy here, he’s playing for Newcastle and loves representing the city… Our best players will always attract glances from other clubs, that’s just the reality of football. We want to keep our group together.”
The buzz erupted after reports claimed Tonali’s representatives had floated his name to Arsenal, who were scrambling for midfield reinforcements following an injury blow. But nothing materialized before the window slammed shut — and Newcastle made it crystal clear they had no intention of letting their £52m Italian gem leave.
Tonali, the midfield dynamo who joined from AC Milan in 2023 and helped lift the Carabao Cup last season, remains locked in until 2028 (with an option for longer). He’s racked up 92 appearances, chipped in goals and assists, and shown zero signs of unrest.
This isn’t just a denial — it’s a bold statement from a club that’s arrived at the top table. Newcastle’s top talents are now the ones being chased, but the Magpies are holding firm, unruffled and ready to build.
Tonali stays on Tyneside. The Toon Army can breathe easy — their midfield maestro is here to stay!
